When the US Navy was looking for a way to teach Lens Law and some principles around magnetism for their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics outreach programs, we designed a magnetic ring launcher able to propel a non-ferrous ring across a room as a demonstration device. We went on to make more than 10 of these for other organizations and institutions.
